Hyderabad: Works on either side of the new-look Secunderabad railway station, coming up at an approximate cost of Rs 700 crore, is progressing at a brisk pace in order to complete the exercise within the deadline.
A statement released by SCR on Friday mentioned that on the southern side, nearly 80 per cent of the construction work related to foundations and basement one slab work were completed while they were through with 60 per cent of basement two slab works.
The ground floor on the south side will be the drop-off exit zone, while basement one will be the pick-up zone for those entering the station from the south side. Basement two will have a parking facility for nearly 200 four-wheelers.
The existing building on the south side will be expanded with the construction of a modern building. Nearly 45 per cent of the foundation work for this has been completed, the statement said. Similarly, 45 per cent of the columns work and nearly 30 per cent of the ground floor slab work have been completed. Construction work for a new foot over bridge (FOB) towards Kazipet has also commenced. Foundation work has been completed on two platforms, while work is progressing on the other platforms.
