MoFPI may get cut in budgetary allocation as it fails to utilise provision

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) may get a cut in budgetary allocation for the next fiscal.

According to a report, the ministry has failed to utilise the entire budgetary provision.

The budgetary allocation was Rs 3,287 crore for FY 2023-24 while the ministry was able to spend only Rs 2,912 crore so far.

The Budget proposal of the previous fiscal year was Rs 2941.99 crore while the actual revised Budget for the fiscal 2022-23 was 1901.59 crore, according to the spending.

Expert feels that the ministry may get a cut as the Budget gets revised based on the spending.
