Vijayawada: Culture minister R.K. Roja on Saturday distributed ID cards prepared by the Department of Language and Culture to various artists of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, she said the goal of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government is to keep arts alive. For the purpose, artistes should thrive.
Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnuvardhan, city mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi State Creativity and Culture Samiti creativity head L. Jogi Naidu and chairperson Vangapandu Usha were present at the function.
The minister said as an artist herself, she is very happy to distribute identity cards to fellow artistes. She underlined that the state government has done a lot of good to artistes through Navaratnalu schemes.
Roja disclosed that they collected data before deciding on giving the ID cards to real artistes. She advised artistes to apply and get identity cards through village / ward secretariats.
The minister pointed out that AP artists had got the great opportunity of performing at the prestigious GIS and G20 programmes. “From this, one can understand how much priority the state government gives to artistes,” she underlined.
