Vijayawada: Environment minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy on Friday launched four online apps designed by Andhra Pradesh Environmental Management Corporation (APEMC) for waste management.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the apps will help monitor waste generating sectors like industries, hospitals, aqua processing units and thermal power stations, purify these wastes generated, and dispose them of safely.
The apps will enable cooperation between representatives of industries and AP Pollution Control Board, so that the waste generated could be scientifically monitored and disposed of.
The state environment minister maintained that in the past, there had been no comprehensive monitoring of waste moving in a vehicle. But now the apps will fully track the vehicle every minute till the waste reaches its destination within the expected time. Likewise, one of the apps also tracks the marine waste generated.
On information management system, Ramchandra Reddy underlined that complete details are collected through Form-3 on generation of hazardous waste, to whom it is delivered, its processing, disposal and various controls. Through these reports, the Pollution Control Board will monitor details of waste related to all industries and organisations online. This will make waste management more efficient.
The minister said APEMC will be the bridge between companies that generate waste and organisations that process it. He disclosed that the corporation is formulating comprehensive policies on controlling all wastes, including e-waste and bio-waste, to check air and water pollution.
Special chief secretary Nirab Kumar Prasad, APEMC chairman Gubba Chandrasekhar, MD P.V. Chalapathi Rao, and AP Pollution Control Board member secretary B. Sridhar were among those who participated in the programme.
