Hyderabad: A stray dog attacked an elderly woman and her four-year-old grandson at a park in Anjenayanagar in Moosapet on Friday evening. The toddler sustained multiple bites.
Kasim Bibi, accompanied by her daughter Rehana and grandson, were leaving the park when the stray attacked them. Their attempts to drive away the dog were futile, and it continued to bite the child until bystanders intervened.
Kasim Bibi said, “We tried hard to release the boy from the dog’s grip.” The family immediately sought medical attention at a nearby private hospital.
Askar Ramzan, a tailor from Anjaneyanagar, was grateful that his grandson received prompt medical treatment. He voiced concerns about the increasing presence of stray dog packs in the area.
GHMC chief veterinary officer Dr Abdul Wakil said that no report had been received regarding the incident. He assured that dog sterilisation units were monitoring the GHMC region. In response to the incident, Dr Wakil said that a team would be dispatched to the spot to identify the dog.
